What Are the Different Areas of Web Design?

Web design covers a wide variety of disciplines and skills in the design and development of online websites. The various areas of web design encompass web graphics design; site layout; web programming; scripting; authoring and coding, including proprietary applications and standardized code; user experience design; search engine optimization; and web development. Each area is used for different purposes, and in many cases they are employed in conjunction with each other. This article looks at these areas, and their specific roles in the overall design of an online website.

Web Design and Development includes a lot of different processes such as the creation of logo designs, business card graphics and web content. All web content is created from web graphics, and when the web designer has finished this he or she can create the final product. The web designer has many resources available to them in order to help create a website, such as images, videos, images and more.

Web development is the process of getting a website developed so that it can be released to the public. There are many different tools available for web developers to use such as web browsers, database management software, programming languages and more. Web developers also have to be able to get their website coded by a web development company so that the developer can then have a chance to optimize the website, meaning that they can make it easier for the search engines to find it.

User experience design is all about the way the user finds the site on a computer screen. This usually involves the interaction of a user with the website through various forms of communication such as text and pictures and is done through the navigation of the website. User experience designers must always take into consideration how the site will interact with various aspects of the user's day to day life, which means that they may have to rework their designs in order to accommodate these changes.

Search engine optimization is the process of increasing the visibility of a website within search engines, and this can be done through various methods. Most companies will hire a professional SEO company to do this job, however many small web sites are more than happy to achieve the same results on their own.

These are just some of the areas in which web designers can work on. Web development, user experience, search engine optimization and user experience all go hand in hand, as these are what make or break a website, so they are all important to web designers.
